HTC Salsa and ChaCha Facebook phones will be available in the UK on June 17
Just like HTC said they would, the HTC Salsa and ChaCha are going to become available in Europe before the end of the second quarter of this year. Unveiled during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, these pseudo-Facebook phones (pseudo because they lack Facebook’s official blessing) are set to take the UK by storm starting on June 17.
Unfortunately, other than the aforementioned release date, we have no more details about the HTC Salsa and ChaCha at the moment. There’s no price listed yet on Expansys for either device, so that’s surely still being thought of by HTC at this point. Of course, even so, you can take the plunge and pre-order either phone right now from Expansys, if you’re into taking risks. We’ll let you know as soon as pricing information has been made available.
The HTC Salsa is a full-touchscreen device, having a 3.4-inch screen with 480×320 resolution, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, a 600 MHz processor, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, 512 MB of internal space expandable via a microSD card slot, and it will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The HTC ChaCha is a QWERTY candybar that also has a touchscreen, this time only 2.6 inches in size, with the same 480×320 resolution as the Salsa (although in landscape mode here). Not much else is different about these two devices though, as the ChaCha also has a 600 MHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, a VGA front-facing camera, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, and 512 MB of internal memory expandable via a microSD card slot. It will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well.
