Verizon’s HTC Thunderbolt delayed until March 4. Or is it?

This is a strange one. The Roseville Best buy (No. 129) has its own Twitter account. And they use that account to give people info about stocks and whatnot. Until today, when an employee used it to tweet about the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt being delayed.

That wouldn’t be very hard to believe, since it’s definitely not the first time that this has happened, but what makes this strange is when that particular Best Buy store will have the smartphone in stock: on Thursday, March 4. That’s what the tweet says, but there’s only one problem about that: March 4 is a Friday.

So either an employee there has no idea how to use (and read) a calendar, or who knows. The Thunderbolt, at this point, may come on Thursday March 3, Friday March 4, or even before that. It’s unclear, since there’s no official word from either Verizon or HTC on a(nother) delay. Perhaps the Thunderbolt may even make its previously rumored release dates of February 24 (that’s today, so unlikely) or February 28. We’ll just have to wait and see, since this is all one big blur at the moment.

    I noticed that best buy on their “weekly ad” link has updated the dates. It did say 2/20/11-2/26/11 now it has been updated to 2/20/11 – 3/26/11

    Verizon Rep stated it may arrive as early as Feb 28th but very well may be pushed back until Mar 4th or after. They are working out bugs in the system and phone before they will release it officially. The rep also stated that it will cost 249.99 with a 2 year contract.

    My dad had been talking to a manager at Verizon, and that was over 3 weeks ago. He said he’d call when they figure out when it is coming out, and they gave him that call two days ago. The guy said that it will be available on Monday, and to stop by then. So I’d say that the 28th is a safe bet. At least to get it at Verizon as a pre-existing customer.

    Price will be $199 – $249. It will be out Monday, at least to pre-existing Verizon customers. That’s what my Verizon manager said.

    Verizon does their Releases on Thursdays.. Which means to me that the 4th could be a good date!

    I talked to a mobile specialist at Besy Buy yesterday. He said that he is also waiting on the Thunderbolt, and gave me some good info. He said that because the prices at Best Buy change regularly, they overprice them in the circular. He gave me an example: He pointed to a phone on the shelf with a “free” price tag… but in the circular itself, it was marked at $29.99 just in case something changes. He also said that the accesories were already on the shelves, and he has been told the 28th. As a side note, he said that the phone has only been TRUELY delayed once, from today (24th) th the 28th…

    I have this best friends uncles mom whos dating someone who knows of someones auntes brother who helped design the Thunderbolt. ANd they said it wont be out until March 04 2012

    When i walked into verizon this morning i was going to leave with a new phone. Ive been waiting on the tbolt for weeks now and was ready to just get the iphone4. I told the rep i have been waiting and waiting, and she looked around and whispered, lets make an appointment for you on monday (the 28th). since the meeting was late in the day, i asked her if i would have one reserved and she said she couldnt promise anything and it would be best to come at opening. So, looks like im headin to vzw early monday morning.

    I work at a Verizon store and our regional manager said that as of right now, it will be released on February 28th.

    Well after i went in today, and the rep set up an appointment with me for 9am monday morning and the tbolt isnt in my hands, im going to be pretty angry. But check your calendars…whats 28 (the date) – 14 (grace period)? ahh thats right, thats the weekend of the first official iphone sale. Makes sense because most people dont have time to wait hours and hours on thurs and fri, so theyll go on sat and sun…which sun. the 27th would be the 14th day…genius i know.

    My grandmother’s neighbor’s sister who knows someone’s brother who has another brother who works with the sister of someone who used the bathroom at a Best Buy overheard a conversation about the Thunderbolt being released on December 12, 2017 without a battery or even a back cover. The battery and cover are being replaced by a small crank that you will have to turn for 20 minutes to enable a 2.5 minute phone call. Pricing yet to be determined.

    This literally made me spill my coffee…hilarious. I too am upset with the lack of “official information” regarding the release of the htc tb, and it has definitely soured me towards htc and verizon both. Probably going to upgrade to iphone 4 from my og droid.
