LG Optimus 2X officially launching in Europe this month
Launched in South Korea in January, the LG Optimus 2X will be available in “key European markets” starting this month (later than initially announced).
The new Optimus is the world’s first dual-core smartphone (based on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chip), and the first to come with 7.1 multi-channel virtual surround sound for providing “the closest thing to theater-quality entertainment on a mobile device.”
Most probably, the UK is among the countries where the Optimus 2X will be available before the end of the month. In fact, online retailer Expansys already lets British customers pre-order the smartphone, saying it will ship it on March 21. The price is quite steep (£499.99 – €588, or $812), but pre-order prices have always been high anyway.
As mentioned before, the Optimus 2X will run Android 2.2 at launch, with an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread expected to follow shortly.
