Dual-core Pioneer DreamBook Android Honeycomb tablet announced

I had no idea Pioneer is making Android tablets. And yet it does: meet the Pioneer DreamBook ePad H10 HD (an unnecessarily long name, I know).

The DreamBook ePad H10 is Pioneer Computers’ first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet. It has a 10.1 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels, and a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, which means it’s a direct competitor to the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The tablet has been announced in Australia, where it will be available starting mid-April for 699 Australian dollars (about 705 USD).

Update: Pioneer Computers, the maker of the DreamBook tablet, has nothing to do with the better-known Japan-based Pioneer, manufacturer of audio equipment and other electronics.

More features:

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • WCDMA/HSPA, 850 / / 1900 / 2100
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Ambient Light Sensor
  • 3-axis Accelerometer
  • e-Compass
  • Gyro Sensor
  • 3.5 Audio Jack
  • 5MP rear camera
  • 2MP front-facing camera
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB / 32GB /64GB on-board memory
  • Micro HDMI
  • SIM card slot

Not bat at all, right?

Pioneer said nothing about the availability of the DreamBook ePad H10 HD outside Australia, but I assume we’ll see the tablet in other countries soon.
