Verizon HTC Thunderbolt ships on March 17, pre-orders start tonight, simultaneous voice&data confirmed
Just as it was getting plain silly, there seems to be and end to the HTC Thunderbolt release date dilemma. Sure, HTC said that it will officially announce something “soon”, but before it had the chance to do that, we’ve already gotten word on what the magical date will be.
It’s March 17, as rumored once before. First confirmation of that comes via a leak of both a Verizon document and a screengrab of an internal Verizon listing for the Thunderbolt. Both of those images leaked to Engadget clearly show March 17 as the “all channel launch date”.
Next up, a Wirefly rep has shot us an email with some great news for those of you still drooling after the Thunderbolt. You will be able to pre-order the Thunderbolt from Wirefly starting at midnight PST (that’s 3 AM Eastern Time) – as in, in just a few hours. To get yours, head over to this page. It will switch to a pre-order page at the aforementioned time.
Wirefly also officially lists the shipping date for the Thunderbolt as March 17, so at this point it looks pretty clear. Unless of course HTC and/or Verizon decide to delay the device some more at the last minute. Let’s hope not.
But the good news doesn’t stop there. The Wirefly rep has also confirmed to us that the HTC Thunderbolt will have simultaneous voice and data capabilities, a feature often dreamed of by Verizon customers.
Now the ball’s in HTC’s court. If the Thunderbolt will indeed launch on March 17, they have less than three days to announce that. We’ll see.
