Poem May Reveal Details about Upcoming DROID Bionic

Everybody loves a good story to keep their minds working through the weekend. This weekend’s big story comes courtesy a gentleman by the name of Black Man X, an insider who has been known for his in-depth knowledge of Verizon’s future plans.

This week Mr. X published a poem titled “Hype-beast hangover”, in reference to the newly-launched HTC Thunderbolt which definitely became a hype-beast to say the least. By looking at this cryptic poem there may be clues about the upcoming DROID Bionic release, which will be a LTE device from Motorola.

Here’s the poem:

When Beer flows in the color of envy and the rainbows are all but empty and you bask in the Thunder so bold…

But if it’s another device you seek to reach your Peak, then you may yet have several weeks.

For in the LiTE a new device shall shine, and perhaps that is fine if dual cores you don’t mind…

For Stevie Austin moves like a blur, Unless it stock style you prefer…

But its calmness we shall seek,

And shy away from the Hype-beast

So those signing two year choices,

don’t blame panda forces,

But the unknown sources that raise your hopes so high….

Cause at the end of the tweet a Sneaky Panda speaks and he says…

It’s easy to see that he’s telling us we may not want to get stuck in a 2-year contract with the Thunderbolt (“bask in the Thunder so bold”). But let’s break down the rest of the poem.

“Beer flows in the color of envy and the rainbows are all but empty” = Green beer on St. Patrick’s Day, when the Thunderbolt launched.

“Another device you seek to reach your Peak” = This could refer to the Bionic’s codename Etna, a well-known peak. Or it could more cryptically refer to the HTC Pyramid, which obviously is shaped like a peak.

“you may yet have several weeks” = The DROID Bionic will be released in several weeks, which could be anywhere between 3-12 weeks. Either way, it puts the Bionic still within its promised Q2 timeline.

“In the LiTE a new device shall shine” = LTE; “perhaps that is fine if dual cores you don’t mind” = I interpret this to mean that we do want dual-core.

“Stevie Austin” = protagonist in the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman. “like a blur” = MotoBLUR

“Stock style you prefer” = this could mean one of two things: either the Bionic will give us a choice between MotoBLUR and Stock Android, or there will be two devices coming out next to each other, one using BLUR and the other using stock Android (perhaps the LG Revolution?).

This is all pure speculation, but it’s good fodder to mull over in your head for the weekend. Either way, Black Man X is trying to warn us not to get all ooh’d and ahh’d by the very first LTE smartphone to show up, and we will benefit by waiting a little while longer before signing our contracts.

Did you get anything out of this poem?

Reading all the excitement over Thunderbolt has seriously tempted me to rethink my initial choice of waiting for Bionic but after reading BMX’s poem I’ve decided to not give into geek envy, I’ll settle back and patiently await Bionic.

I get my Thunder Bolt on Monday and am shipping it straight back.

Very nice poem really! I thank you for paraphrasing the words in this poem. With your post, I was able to understand what the poem means.
