LG Wireless Charger Gets Hands-On Treatment at CTIA 2011

If you’re familiar with the Powermat or the Touchstone chargers for Palm, this particular new product from LG announced yesterday at CTIA will look strangely familiar. LG is now coming out with its own wireless charging accessory that will take advantage of special phone covers to charge up the phone.

LG is planning to make this available for several upcoming handsets, though they would not mention specifically which ones besides the LG Revolution.

So at CTIA we got some time to take a look at the device in person, and it appears well made. Interestingly enough, the model on display was Verizon-branded, suggesting that this will debut with the launch of the LG Revolution.

I like seeing these types of products come out, because it lends hope to the idea that all companies will come out with an offering of their own, and one step further, actually make them universal in some way. This is asking for a bit much, but one can dream.
