Nokia T7 leaks, will run Symbian and have 360×640 screen, new browser
Just when you thought Nokia’s phone naming scheme couldn’t get any more confusing (dashes, Nokia? seriously?! dashes?!), Nokia’s apparently set to prove you wrong by introducing a whole new ‘series’ at some point in the future.
Right now we have the Nseries, Eseries, Xseries, and Cseries. Those will apparently be joined by the Tseries, and perhaps the first member of this new series will be the Nokia T7.
This device has leaked during the weekend, and not once, but twice. That basically confirms its existence. First, it was seen in the Ovi Publisher tool. It sits neatly listed in between the N8 and the X7, a phone that has leaked before, but still hasn’t been officially announced. The picture below says it all.
Next up, it was found that the T7 also has a UA profile over at Nokia.com. For now, this doesn’t hold much information, but that’s as close to a confirmation of the device’s existence as we’re going to get in this early leak stage. What we do now is that it will run Symbian^3 (a.k.a. ‘new Symbian’ or whatever else Nokia decides to rebrand it into by the time the T7 ships), it will have a 640×360 screen resolution like basically all the Symbian^3 devices announced thus far, and will get version 7.3 of Nokia’s Symbian Web browser.
The handset will also apparently have two softkeys. That’s all we know for now.
It will be interesting to see how Nokia will choose to position the new Tseries. Once we find that out, we’ll probably also be able to tell if there was any need for a new ‘series’ at all. After all, it’s sometimes very hard to tell what the differences between the Xseries and the Cseries are.
