Sony Ericsson W8 (the first Android Walkman handset) is a disappointment
Sony Ericsson’s first Android Walkman phone isn’t called W15, as we previously thought, but W8.
Today, the Sony Ericsson W8 has been officially introduced in Indonesia (a press release in English has not showed up yet).
Although all of SE’s new Android handsets unveiled this year run 2.3 Gingerbread, the W8 strangely runs Android 2.1 – disappointing, I know.
Specs-wise, the W8 is similar to the Xperia X8, offering a 3 inch HVGA display, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.2MP camera, and a 600MHz processor. The new handset also features Timescape UI, 3.5mm headset jack, Walkman player, TrackID, and comes with the MH410 stereo headset.
There’s no word on the price of the Sony Ericsson W8 (it’d better be a low one). we do know that the phone will be available starting this quarter in the following markets: China, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
You can see the W8 here at Sony Ericsson Indonesia (via GSM Arena).
