Verizon Sony Ericsson Xperia Play now only $99.99 on pre-order at Amazon
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is coming to Verizon. The carrier has announced that the official release date is May 26 – that’s this Thursday. Pre-orders have started on May 19, and the price that Verizon is asking is $199.99 with a new two-year contract.
However, there’s a cheaper option. Amazon is also taking pre-orders for the first ever PlayStation certified phone. It asks only $99.99 for those who are new to Verizon, and $149.99 for existing customers who want to upgrade.
So if you absolutely need to have an Xperia Play on Verizon, you might as well order it from Amazon and save a lot of money in the process. There may be one caveat though, and it’s the shipping date. Currently, Amazon shows the Xperia Play as being backordered and says that it “usually ships in 8 to 9 days”. Now that message may just be there by mistake, seeing as how this is a pre-order, or, worst case scenario, you’ll have to wait a bit more to get the Xperia Play from Amazon.
If that’s fine with you, head on over there now and add it to your cart.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has a side-sliding gamepad, and comes with Madden NFL, The Sims 3, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, Star Battalion, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Crash Bandicoot, and Tetris preinstalled. It has a 1 GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, 400 MB of internal storage expandable via microSD (an 8 GB card will be included in the box), a 4-inch 854×480 capacitive touchscreen, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and WVGA video capture, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
