Vodafone has announced that it has started selling a new, exclusive version of the HTC Desire S. However, the only thing that’s different here is the color. Yes, Vodafone now sells you a ‘red’ version of the Desire S, and apparently this color is an exclusive to the operator (at least in the UK).
So good news for those of you who like your phones red (or orange-ish red, as this is). Nothing else has changed, not the specs, and, unfortunately, not even the monthly contracts. You can get the phone for free only if you commit to a new 24-month contract that will cost you at least £30 per month – just like you have to with any other Desire S color.
For the £30 you get 600 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500 MB of data. The Desire S is also offered on a cheaper, £25 per month plan, but you’ll have to shell out £99 for the handset. That contract gets you 100 minutes, 500 texts, and 500 MB of data. If you’re into talking a lot on your phone (!), then 500 minutes are probably worth an added £5 per month. The same goes if you text a lot – unlimited texts does sound better than 500. In these cases, you should then probably go for the £30 per month plan, just like Vodafone would like you to.
Anyway, if you want (or need) a red HTC Desire S on Vodafone, head on over there right now and order yours.
The HTC Desire S has a 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm processor, 768 MB of RAM, 1.1 GB of ROM, a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, and a 1450 mAh battery.
