US Cellular launches Samsung Chrono, a cheap flip phone
If you missed flip phones, well, US Cellular and Samsung are now willing to take you on a journey to 2003. The aforementioned companies have launched the Samsung Chrono, a cheap, unassuming featurephone that has the form factor oh-so-beloved in the USA of yesteryear.
The Samsung Chrono has a 2-inch QVGA (240×320) internal display, a VGA camera, Bluetooth, 512 MB of internal storage, and it’s available in dark gray.
The price of this beast? $19.99 on a pre-paid plan from US Cellular, or you can get it for free if you agree to sign a new two-year service agreement. You can’t argue that this hasn’t been priced right, yet I wonder how many people would still buy something so lacking in features in this day and age. Although perhaps there still are many such people around, because otherwise carriers wouldn’t release such handsets.
