Facebook-centric HTC ChaCha now available in the UK
Back in February at Mobile World Congress, HTC introduced a duo of Facebook-centric Android-powered smartphones – the ChaCha and the Salsa. Both have a dedicated Facebook button, and both are clearly aimed at the Facebook maniacs out there.
The ChaCha is now in stock both at Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse, and both retailers offer it with a variety of different contracts on all the major UK operators.
Phones4U will give you a ChaCha for free if you sign a £20 per month 24-month contract with Vodafone. That’s the cheapest option, but there are many others. Choosing this contract gets you 100 minutes and 500 texts each month. If you’d rather get the phone without a contract, Phones4U will sell it to you for £300 on Pay as you go.
Carphone Warehouse on the other hand only asks £230 to give you the device SIM-free, so if that’s what you’re after, perhaps you’re better off there. The contract prices are all very similar to what Phones4U offers, so if you want a ChaCha with a contract either retailer is good.
The HTC ChaCha has a 2.6-inch 480×320 capacitive touchscreen, a full physical QWERTY keyboard underneath that screen, a unique shape, a 600 MHz processor, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash, 512 MB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM, microSD card support, HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 1250 mAh battery, and that all-important Facebook touch. The ChaCha runs Android Gingerbread.
