LG Optimus Black wins virtual race against iPhone 4, Galaxy S II and others in funny commercial
Now that the Optimus Black P970 has started to hit markets around the world, LG has though it would be a good idea to make a smart’n’funny TV commercial for it.
The commercial’s plot (if we can call it that way) pits the Optimus Black against Apple’s iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S II, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, and an HTC smartphone, in a car race-like contest. Sure enough, LG didn’t want to use the competitors’ actual names (no one wants to get sued, right?), so it invented monikers like Waffle’s Ivan, Samson Gary S Jr., Sonic Archie, and Hightech Dwayne.
The winner of the race is, of course, the LG Optimus Black, since it’s super thin, lightweight, and super fast. These things don’t necessarily make it better than the other handsets in real life, but they sure are big selling points.
Here, take a look at the commercial for yourself:
The Optimus Black runs Android 2.2 Froyo (upgradeable to 2.3 Gingerbread) and features a 4 inch WVGA Nova display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 2MP front-facing camera, 5MP rear camera with 720p video recording, and a 1GHz TI OMAP processor. Despite its name, a white version of it exists, too.
