Nokia E72, E52, N97 mini and other Symbian smartphones receive new software updates

Nokia has announced that it would provide software updates for no less than 14 older Symbian smartphones, which are currently running either Symbian 3.2, or Symbian 5.0.

The updates will bring the new Nokia browser v7.3 (which comes pre-loaded on Symbian Anna smartphones), allowing users to enjoy an enhanced browsing experience, and providing support for non-ASCII letters and for international domain names.

Symbian 3.2 devices will also get Ovi Maps 3 SR4 (with indoor positioning through Wi-Fi), while Symbian 5.0 devices receive Ovi Maps 3 SR6 (which adds check-in services and public transport lines to your favorite social networking sites).

Here’s the list of Symbian 3.2 (non-touch) handsets that will be updated:

And the list of Symbian 5.0 (touch) devices:

Nokia C6-00 and Nokia 5230 owners should be able to update their devices starting today. The rest of the handsets will be updated “in the next few weeks.”
