Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray may become available in the UK in August
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray was announced a week ago and it should fit into the company’s smartphone portfolio right beneath the Xperia Neo. The Xperia Ray has a 3.3-inch screen, so smaller than the Neo, but aside from that it’s got most of the same specs. That means that if this device is priced well (read:affordable) enough, it may indeed become Sony Ericsson’s best-seller. And it’s clear that the company is definitely in need of something like that.
Back when the official announcement took place, the only information about when the Xperia Ray would become available was that it would happen sometime during the third quarter of this year. Now since a three-month period is a bit vague for our taste, we’re happy to report that we can now narrow that down – albeit only by two thirds.
See, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray has a dedicated ‘coming soon’ page over at the Carphone Warehouse in the UK. This lets you register your interest for the device, and receive more info by email when it’s available. However, the same page also lists the fact that the Xperia Ray will become available in the UK in August.
Nothing more specific than that, unfortunately, but we’ll take that over “in Q3″ any day. Do note however that Carphone Warehouse says that the “expected date is subject to change without notice”. Let’s hope that won’t happen though.
So now all that’s left is for us to find out how much the Ray will cost, and exactly when in August it will hit UK streets. We’ll report back when we hear some more.
