HTC Sensation now available at T-Mobile UK, free with £40 per month contract

The HTC Sensation is now finally available at T-Mobile in the UK. It was clear that HTC’s high-end device would eventually be sold by the magenta operator, and a couple of days ago we found out that T-Mobile would start selling the phone this month. Thankfully, that actually turned out to mean ‘in mere days’, so here we are.

As you probably expected, the Sensation isn’t cheap. Well, it’s free, but those of you in the UK probably know what I mean. Getting the phone for free requires signing a new two-year contract that will cost you £40.85 each month.

For that amount of dough, you get 1200 minutes, 500 texts, and unlimited internet, so you probably can’t complain that much. Still, £40 per month isn’t cheap, and isn’t even what we’re used to seeing for non-iPhones. That said, if you use the data connection a lot, the unlimited internet alone may make this worth it to you.

To get an HTC Sensation from T-Mobile on Pay Monthly, follow this link. That’s where you’ll find that T-Mobile offers the Sensation on many other price plans, although getting it on plans lower than £40 per month will require you to shell out some cash for the device upfront. The cheapest plan is £10.21 per month, and with it the Sensation costs £350. The most expensive plan is £56.17, and it offers unlimited minutes, 500 texts, and unlimited internet. Since there are many others, one will certainly fit your needs best, so look around before you order.

The HTC Sensation has a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, a 4.3-inch 960×540 capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, an 8 MP autofocus rear camera with dual-LED flash and 1080p HD video recording, a VGA front-facing camera, 1 GB of internal storage, 768 MB of RAM, microSD card support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, and a 1520 mAh battery. The HTC Sensation runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC’s Sense UI overlay.

The ‘unlimited internet’ isn’t exactly true, if the contract is their standard T&Cs.  T-Mobile limit downloads to 500Mb/month, although does state that it allows ‘unlimited email and web browsing’, however even that ‘unlimited’ function is qualified.  If your email has attachments or if the website you’re browsing requires a small download to function, then expect to be disappointed.  The only truly unlimited mobile data allowances in the UK of which I am aware are on Three and Giffgaff.  Three costs from £35/mo and Gifgaff from £10/mo.

Thanks for this – phoned them this afternoon and got a free upgrade!
I looked on line but it wasn’t available as an option – but a quick phonecall and it was all sorted.
Online upgrade for a Desire HD would have cost £150, so phoning saved a lot of money.
18 month contract, £35 per month, 600 mins and unlimited internetShould arrive on Tuesday.
