Acer Iconia Tab A500 Android 3.1 update has reached Canada

A couple of days ago, we reported that the Android 3.1 update for the Acer Iconia Tab A500 had apparently started rolling out in the US. That was pretty much on time, since Acer previously said that the update would be available on July 5.

And it looks like the update has also rolled out in Canada. Acer Iconia Tab A500 owners have told MobileSyrup that they have received and applied the update already.

In the US, updating wasn’t all smooth sailing, with several people reporting either getting older software (still newer than Android 3.0, but not 3.1) or getting their devices bricked. That includes one of our commenters. So be careful. Of course should anything happen, it’s clearly covered by warranty, but you will lose a few minutes, hours, or days, talking to Acer support and getting things fixed or getting a replacement.

If you’re in North America and your Iconia Tab A500 hasn’t yet informed you about the update, fret not for it’s probably on its way. Let’s hope it will slowly become available worldwide next.

    do you actually know what you are talking about in your article?  obviously not.  People in the US did not get old software, your claim the roll out wasn’t smooth shows a lack of knowledge.  If you had of listened to acer, then you would have the comprehension that to update to 3.1, users who hadn’t already done so had to update to 3.0.1, which was released in may and had to be installed for 3.1 to install.  And from what I have seen people whose tabled were bricked are those who rooted their tablet, so their own fault.  and it is world wide, moron, that is why those of us in Australia, New Zealand have already updated.  Also if you knew what you were talking about, which you do not you would know it was being released in waves, the english countries were first.  Places like India will be in August as they are still trying to find carriers for the OTA.  My god the standard of journalism has gone now they let anyone blog without knowing facts.

    my brother got the update un florida but just one flaw. The wifi connection is not working properly, it gets connected to the access points(have tried more than 5 locations) and it shows “getting IP addres” but it does not connect and shows “disabled” under the connections name. Interesting?

    Mine was bricked and I never rooted it and if you look across the internet the wireless deal is very prevelant.  Also the 3.1 update was pulled to fix some issues so not all will have it yet…so before you become some smart*&^ replier maybe you should do some homework.
