Sprint LG Optimus Slider gets rendered for the first time
Sprint has a midrange LG Android smartphone with a side-sliding full physical QWERTY keyboard coming its way, according to PocketNow. Its codename right now is Gelato Q, the model number is LS700, and the name under which it will end up launching may be LG Optimus Slider. It may even have leaked under the name LG Q last month via Sprint ID. Alongside another device, this time full touch, sans physical QWERTY, the Optimus Slider is apparently going to be the successor to the almost-ubiquitous Optimus One.
The other upcoming LG Optimus One follow-up has the codename Gelato and the model number on Sprint LS685.
The Gelato Q/Optimus Slider will feature a HVGA touchscreen (with a resolution of 480×320 presumably), and will look a bit or more like the render you can see below.
The final design may be different, but there should be a strong resemblance even so. It’s unclear though how the keyboard will look like, or if it will have an integrated second screen like an LG phone that got leaked on its way to T-Mobile not long ago.
The Optimus Slider may be launched by Sprint this September, and it may also hit Verizon and T-Mobile – at least the sans-QWERTY Gelato or Optimus II will arrive at TMo this fall, according to a roadmap leak from May. Of course, there’s nothing stopping these phones from reaching other US carriers as well, since the Optimus One before them has.
