Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Mini Pro to arrive in India this week

Officially announced in early May, and not yet available for purchase anywhere in the world, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro should be released in India pretty soon.

In fact, Sony Ericsson India’s official website already has a Buy Now button for the Xperia Mini, but we’re not entirely sure the handset can be bought right away.

The Xperia Mini Pro appears at SE India’s website, too, although without a Buy Now button. However, online retailer Flipkart lets customers pre-order the Mini Pro, saying it will be launched “in the 5th week of July” – meaning this week. The smartphone costs 15,099 INR (about $340).

Both the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and have similar features, including: 3 inch HVGA display, Timescape UI, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS, 5MP autofocus camera, and 1GHz processor. The Mini Pro has a sliding QWERTY keyboard, thus being a bit thicker than the Mini.

    yay… am waiting for this phone for over 2 months now. Earlier the retailer ‘univercell’ had suggested that the product might cost around INR 18000. Now, flipcart infact had published its price range in INR 15000 range. I thought it was UK where this phone will be first available, good to know we are getting it sooner in India. I am a taker of this phone for its 1 Ghz processor, Gingerbread, Bravia engine for display and 720 p video recording, not to forget its good looks and an excellent physical keyboard, and all these for 15k – irressistible!

    oh.. jus lovin it.. superb android mob.. and it has multi touch input as well… however i don think it’ll be 15k.. SE is always higher than expected.. might be in the range 17k-19k… watever the price is, im definitely gettin this on the 1st day… my oly dissappointment is that the mob is fat.. i cant undrstnd y this is sooo thick & all d other SE mobiles are slim.. they cud’ve made it slimmer… nevertheless i got a eyes on ya..

    Rengha, the phone is thick because of its physical keyboard. Xperia Mini – the one without the keyboard is thinner than Mini Pro. Also, be prepared to get less juice in the battery. X10 mini & x10 mini pro had lot of complaints w.r.to battery. Though, SE claims to have increased the talk time by approx. 1 hour in these new variations, I am already prepared to carry an extra charger with me.

    abt the price, I had double checked in flipcart that I am looking at Mini pro & not Mini for the 15k price tag. But so far, thats the only site to publish the price. Should wait for few more days to get it confirmed.

    Guys…. This mobile is for sure going to cost just 13 -14K coz Xperia mini pro is there for preorder at flipkart for just Rs 15099. Hence for sure this will not cost you more than 14 K i believe.
