Nokia N9 can be ordered at Amazon for $500
Although Nokia said it would not officially release the N9 in the US, if you’re there and want the smartphone really bad, you’ll be able to get it eventually.
Amazon is currently taking orders for the N9, allowing you to choose between the 16GB edition ($500) and the 64GB one ($650).
The retailer is selling the handset unlocked, saying it should ship it on September 23. You can go here for the N9 16GB, or here for the N9 64GB. Just like in the UK, the N9 is offered in three color versions: black, cyan and magenta.
Since the N9 features penta-band HSDPA connectivity, it can be used on any GSM network over in the US (yes, T-Mobile and AT&T are included).
The N9 is Nokia’s first and last commercially available MeeGo smartphone. It has a “no buttons” design, and comes with a 3.9 inch AMOLED Gorilla Glass display (854 x 480 pixels), NFC, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Dolby Mobile sound, 8MP Carl Zeiss camera, 720p video recording, 1GB of RAM, and a 1GHz single-core TI OMAP processor. Anyone interested in buying the handset? Or is everyone waiting for Nokia’s first Windows Phone Mango devices to be released?
