The LG Thrill 4G is AT&T’s very own LG Optimus 3D, and it’s certainly been a long time coming. Before you ask, no, it’s still not available. Many months have passed since its announcement, and in the meantime it even got delayed once or twice.
Our most recent indication of yet another delay came just yesterday, when an internal memo from Radio Shack informed us that the launch will only happen on September 4. Before this happened, the projected shipping date was August 21.
And Target looks like another retailer which was getting ready for the release of the Thrill 4G. It even had displays ready for the device. And, as you can see, those show a price of $79.99 with a new two-year AT&T contract.
AT&T’s official price for the Thrill 4G is $99.99, which is still insanely low for the carrier’s first 3D-enabled smartphone. $79.99? That’s a steal. Especially if you’re into all the 3D hype.
The only caveat is that Target had planned for the special $20 off price to be available only in the first week of sales, which is listed in the displays as August 21-August 27. Now if the Thrill 4G is delayed until September at Target too (and there’s no reason for it not to be), then it’s unclear what happens.
Perhaps the above displays were made before AT&T and LG sent word to retailers about this latest delay, in which case we’re hoping that Target will stick with its idea and go with a $79.99 price starting on September 4 until September 10.
We’ll see. Either way, if you’re an AT&T customer who’s into 3D on phones, then the next few weeks will be interesting for you.
