Verizon officially intros the BlackBerry Torch 9850

Verizon Wireless has confirmed the launch date of its BlackBerry Torch 9850 (already available at Sprint and US Cellular): September 8. Starting this day, customers will be able to buy the 9850 online. The handset will also be available in stores, but only after September 15.

Verizon will ask $199.99 (new 2-yr contract required) for the Torch 9850, which features a 3.7 inch WVGA display, global roaming capabilities, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, 5MP autofocus camera, 1.2GHz single-core processor, and a 16GB memory card pre-installed.

The Torch 9850 is Verizon’s second RIM smartphone to come with BlackBerry OS 7, after the Bold 9930, currently offered by the largest US mobile carrier for $249.99 on contract.
