Verizon’s affordable Pantech Breakout with 4G LTE will be available on September 22
By Vlad Bobleanta on 15 Sep 11Being able to surf the Web at 4G LTE speeds on your smartphone is nice and all, but not everyone has $300 lying around to buy one of Verizon’s current 4G LTE-enabled devices. For those who’d like to get some LTE love but simply can’t afford the high-end handsets that Big Red has offered so far, this should be interesting.
The Pantech Breakout will probably be Verizon’s first affordable 4G LTE smartphone. However, do read that as ‘more affordable than other 4G LTE devices’ and not ‘affordable as in free’. The thing is that we don’t know anything about its pricing yet, but its specs certainly suggest that it’s going to be the most affordable 4G LTE phone that Verizon has sold so far.
We’ll find out soon enough. According to the leaked image you can see above, the Pantech Breakout is due to be released by Verizon on September 22, so exactly one week from now. Alongside the shipping info was the full spec list, so here’s a refresher on what the Breakout will have under the hood: a 4-inch 480×800 touchscreen, a 1 GHz single-core processor, a 5 MP autofocus rear camera with 720p HD video recording, a secondary VGA front-facing camera, 1 GB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM, microSD card support, microUSB, a 3.5 mm headset jack, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G LTE, and a 1500 mAh battery. It will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
