AT&T Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G now available for $49.99 with contract
Just as we expected it would, AT&T’s very own interpretation of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has now gone on sale for a pretty reasonable $49.99. That price is naturally valid only if you agree to signing a new two-year contract. You also have to get data service which starts at $15 per month. But that’s usually the price to pay whenever you decide to purchase a smartphone from a carrier these days.
Other than having the ’4G’ suffix added to its name, this is the same Xperia Play that’s been sold worldwide and by Verizon so far, save for the different radio that accommodates AT&T’s “4G” network (read: HSPA).
So if you think that having a side-slider reveal not a QWERTY keyboard, but a PlayStation-like gamepad is a genius idea, and your carrier of choice is AT&T, perhaps you should now be running over there to place an order.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G has a 1 GHz single-core processor, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and WVGA video recording, a 4-inch 854×480 touchscreen, 400 MB of internal storage space, 512 MB of RAM, microSD card support, HSPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 1500 mAh battery.
