Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro now finally available in the UK, SIM-free for £306
After having been announced back in February during MWC, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro was delayed in the UK until the fourth quarter of the year. And thankfully it’s now finally become available, so while indeed launching in the fourth quarter, at least it didn’t get released in December. Or, who knows, at the one-year anniversary of its first unveiling.
Anyway, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is basically an Xperia Neo fitted with a side-sliding physical QWERTY keyboard. All of the other specs are basically identical, which makes the Pro’s delay even stranger. Perhaps producing a keyboard that big turned out to be a challenge for the company.
But the strangeness doesn’t stop there. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is now available to purchase in the UK from Clove, which will give you a SIM-free device for £306. Which is a bit funny, considering that the Xperia Neo costs £322.80 right now at the same retailer. So, the Xperia Pro is a Neo with a keyboard, yet it’s cheaper. Perhaps people really aren’t that much into physical QWERTY keyboards anymore? We’ll see.
Yet if you are, make sure you get yourself an Xperia Pro. It’s a decent device for the price, as it comes with a 1 GHz single-core processor, a 3.7-inch 854×480 touchscreen, an 8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, 512 MB of RAM, 320 MB of user accessible built-in storage, microSD card support, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, 5.76 Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 1,500 mAh battery. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
