New, cheap Nokia C2-05 and X2-05 S40 phones announced

Nokia has just unveiled two new S40 phones: the Nokia C2-05 and Nokia X2-05 (I thought the company was done with naming handsets like this, but whatever).

Both the C2-05 and X2-05 are ultra cheap devices that will be released before the end of the year. They come with Nokia’s new browser for S40, which “uses Nokia’s own compression technology to deliver real mobile web pages quickly and at a fraction of the bandwidth, and cost, of other mobile phones.”

The Nokia C2-05 is a slider that resembles the other C2 models, and features a 2 inch QVGA display, Facebook and Twitter apps, media player, FM radio, Bluetooth, VGA photo camera, and MicroSD card support up to 32GB. In China (one of the main markets where the C2-05 will be released), the phone comes with a QQ application. The handset will cost about €50 before taxes and subsidies.

The Nokia X2-05 is a candybar which also features a QVGA display (2.2 inches), Facebook and Twitter apps, media player, Bluetooth, VGA camera, and MicroSD card support up to 32GB.

The X2-05 will be a bit cheaper than the C2-05: about €46 before taxes and subsidies.
