Unlocked iPhone 4S available now at Apple USA
Apple has been offering the iPhone 4S unlocked in some markets since last month. However, it’s only today that it started doing the same in the US – Where AT&T, Verizon and Sprint are all selling the company’s new (fifth-generation) smartphone.
Don’t get too excited, though. The iPhone 4S that can be bought unlocked will only work on GSM networks (AT&T, T-Mobile), so you won’t be able to use it on Verizon or Sprint.
Anyway, just as expected, the unlocked iPhone 4S 64GB costs $849, with the other models (32GB, 16GB) being $100 and $200 cheaper: $749 and $649, respectively.
If these prices don’t scare you, you can order an unlocked iPhone 4S (in either black, or white) right now here at Apple’s US website. Unfortunately, Apple won’t be able to ship your order immediately, but only in 1-2 weeks. Even so, I’m sure the launch of the unlocked iPhone 4S is great news for lots of T-Mobile customers (who still can’t buy the handset on contract, as T-Mo has remained the only major US carrier not included in Apple’s smartphone-related plans).
