Samsung UK confirms Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II
Now that Google has officially unveiled Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, you’re probably wondering when exactly the new version of the operating system will make it to your particular handset. Unfortunately though, no manufacturer has issued a clear time frame for that – they’re probably still in assessment phase.
That said, many Android device makers have come out and let us know which of their products will see an ICS update. Samsung was among them, yet we only indirectly heard from its Italian arm through an Italian blog. If that wasn’t official enough for you folk in the UK, or if you just wanted someone from Samsung to confirm that the Galaxy S II would get ICS in your neck of the woods, here’s some good news.
Samsung UK announced on Twitter that the company’s flagship device will indeed see an update to Google’s latest mobile OS version. No timeline, though. Just an assurance that an update will eventually come. That will have to do for now.
Anyway, it would have been a gigantic PR mess had Samsung chosen to do otherwise and not update the Galaxy S II, so this is anything but unexpected of course. Now let’s see how many months or (hopefully) weeks you’ll have to wait.
