Samsung GT-N8010 could be a next generation Galaxy Note

Officially announced in September and made available one month later, the Samsung Galaxy Note is certainly one of the most interesting Android devices unveiled this year. Samsung calls it a smartphone, but with its huge 5.3 inch HD (1280 x 800) display, it can also be considered a tablet.

Although the Galaxy Note is still new on the market, Samsung may already have a successor to it.

A mysterious Samsung smartphone has received a Wi-Fi interoperability certificate (PDF file) recently under the name of Samsung GT-N8010. Since the Galaxy Note’s model number is GT-N7000, and this is the only official device from Samsung to have a model name that starts with an N, the new N8010 could very well be its successor.

Unfortunately, other than the fact that it features dual-band (2.4GHz / 5.0GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, we don’t know anything about the GT-N8010.

Anyway, it’s probably safe to assume that this is an Android device. And, since it’s almost certainly going to be launched sometime next year, the N8010 should come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from day one (the Galaxy Note N7000 will get Android ICS anyway – in Q1 2012). We’ll bring more on this as soon as we get it.
