Huawei U8800 Ideos X5 has received the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Better late than never, right? That seems to be Huawei’s thinking here. The company that brought us the first ever ‘alpha’ Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for a non-Nexus device is sadly also the company that has released an update to Gingerbread for one of its devices only today.
The Huawei Ideos X5 (U8800) has finally received its taste of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, more than a year after this software version was launched. Back in November, Huawei promised that the update would come before the end of that month. Yet here it is now, after a slight delay.
This update is only valid for the original Ideos X5 (also known in the UK as the Titan). The Ideos X5 Pro (U8800 Pro) has already received its very own Gingerbread update back in November.
You probably shouldn’t hope that Huawei will ever issue another update for this midrange device. So enjoy this treat for as long as you can.
To download the update, you must go to Huawei’s website.
