Sony Xperia S could be launched in the UK this month
Officially announced last week at CES 2012 as the first Sony smartphone, the Sony Xperia S (aka Xperia Nozomi) may be released in the UK sooner than expected.
We’ve previously heard that the handset would be launched there in March. However, now retailer Play says the new Xperia is “due for release on 30 January 2012.”
Play is taking pre-orders as of now, asking £449.99 (about $693) for the device. It remains to be seen if the retailer will indeed ship the Xperia S before the end of January.
Phones4U, Clove, Expansys, The Carphone Warehouse, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Three will also sell the Sony Xperia S in the UK.
The Xperia S features Android Gingerbread (an update to Android 4.0 ICS is scheduled for later this year), a 4.3 inch HD (1280 x 720) Reality Display, NFC, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 12MP camera with Sony Exmor R mobile sensor and fast capturing time (only 1.5 seconds from stand-by), and 1080p video recording.
