Samsung Galaxy Note (Journal) wanted by Verizon customers, petition started

The Samsung Galaxy Note is already available in the US, but only on AT&T, which is selling it for $299.99 on contract (although you can get it for $249.99 via Amazon).

Last month, we’ve heard a rumor saying that Verizon and Sprint may also release the Note, under the name of Samsung Galaxy Journal. For the moment, none of the two carriers confirmed this, but some Verizon customers seem to really want the new handset.

A petition to bring the Galaxy Note to Verizon has been started recently, aiming to collect 5,000 signatures. Until now, there are a little over 250 signatures, but they’ll probably get to 5,000 eventually. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean Verizon will have the Note. But at least it will know its customers want it.

You can see (and sign) the petition here.

The Galaxy Note features a large 5.3 inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 800 pixels, S Pen technology, LTE, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 2MP front-facing camera, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB (or 32GB) of internal memory. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for it is about to be released pretty soon.
