MWC 2012: LG Optimus Vu preview (video)
Earlier today, I said that the Optimus 4X HD is LG’s highlight device at MWC 2012, but there’s another one that’s at least as interesting: the LG Optimus Vu.
When you first look at it, the Optimus Vu surprises you with its square-ish design – a consequence of the fact that its 5 inch display with 1024 x 768 pixels has a 4:3 aspect ratio.
There’s no doubt about it: using the Optimus Vu with one hand just doesn’t feel natural. With two hands, though, typing (or gaming) feels great.
Presented as being a smartphone “for ultimate productivity”, the Vu comes with a stylus – like Samsung’s Galaxy Note. After you’ve pressed a dedicated key found at the top of the phone, the stylus lets you do all kinds of things, including selecting a certain area of an article and quickly share it on Facebook, Twitter etc.
Other features: LTE connectivity, NFC, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording and LED flash, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and 32GB of internal memory.
The Optimus Vu is only 8.5mm thin, and rather lightweight (168 grams) considering its overall size. The battery inside is a 2,080 mAh one.
The Optimus Vu I’ve seen at MWC 2012 ran Android Gingerbread. But don’t worry, the handset will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when it launches around the world sometime in the second quarter of the year (just like the Optimus 4X HD). Until then, check out the video preview below:
