Nokia Lumia 610 has Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, Lumia 800 and 710 owners frown
If you’re going to buy a Nokia Lumia 610 after it launches in Q2, you will be able to enjoy a feature that current Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 owners don’t have: Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
Nokia’s official website confirms that the 610 can be used “as a Wi-Fi Hotspot for up to 5 Wi-Fi-enabled devices.” I really don’t understand why Nokia omitted this feature on the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710, since it can be really useful from time to time. Maybe a future update will bring it to the two devices.
The Lumia 610 was announced last month at MWC 2012 as Nokia’s cheapest Windows Phone handset. It will retail for €189 before taxes and subsidies, offering a 3.7 inch WVGA Gorilla Glass display, HSDPA, 5MP rear camera, 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory. Reportedly, Nokia expects to sell at least 4 million Lumia 610s for the beginning.
In case you’re wondering, the Lumia 900 (Nokia’s other WP device that’s about to hit the market) will have Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities out of the box.
