Sony Xperia S launching in Canada on April 17, compatible with Rogers’ network
Sony has announced that its Xperia S Android smartphone would be released in Canada on April 17.
According to the company, “a limited number of Xperia S smartphones will be available exclusively at Sony Stores across Canada” starting that day.
There’s no official word on the handset’s price for the Canadian market, but Mobile Syrup reports that you’ll be able to buy it for $99.99 with a new 3-yr contract on Rogers. Just like in other parts of the world, the Xperia S will be released in Canada running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. But an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will obviously follow shortly.
Reportedly, the Xperia S will be also launched in the US, alongside the cheaper Xperia P and Xperia U. However, there’s no word on exactly when this will happen.
