Kyocera announces Hydro and Rise Android 4.0 ICS smartphones
Kyocera isn’t a big name when it comes to smartphones in the US, but this didn’t stop it to announce two new handsets that run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Called Kyocera Hydro and Kyocera Rise, both new devices have entry-level features.
The Hydro is water-resistant, and comes with a 3.5 inch HVGA display, EV-DO Rev A, Wi-Fi, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 processor, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of ROM, 3.2MP rear camera, and MicroSD card support.
The Rise resembles the Hydro, but it’s not water-resistant, and adds a sliding QWERTY keyboard (which obviously makes it thicker).
Kyocera said the two new smartphones would be released in the US in the second half of the year. Their prices haven’t been unveiled. Also, there’s no word on what carriers will have the devices, but Sprint might be among them.
