Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S III caught in the wild smiling for the camera
Earlier today, the Samsung Galaxy S III finally got its official confirmation for the US market. That said, specific launch details will be shared by each carrier at some point during this month, so we’re still left guessing about actual release dates and pricing. While we wait though, most (if not all) carrier-specific versions of the Galaxy S III are bound to get leaked. That’s what usually happens, and there’s no conceivable reason for things to be different this time.
In fact, we already know what Verizon’s Galaxy S III will look like. That’s because this gets the title of ‘first leaked’ among the US carrier variants of Samsung’s latest flagship device. Feast your eyes upon it, then:
As you can see, and as we inferred from Samsung’s press release about the US launch, the design is virtually unchanged from that of the internationally-selling Galaxy S III. That represents quite the departure from how things stood with both of the Galaxy S III’s predecessors. Each carrier got its very own hardware design in past years, but that’s not so anymore. Love it or hate it, the Galaxy S III’s design looks like it will become pervasive in the US as well as the rest of the world.
The Verizon-bound Galaxy S III will have LTE support, and because of that will replace the Exynos quad-core processor found in the international version with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core. RAM for the US version will be 2 GB, twice the size in the HSPA Galaxy S III.
Now all that’s left for Verizon to do is to announce this thing already. So stay tuned.
