Virgin Mobile Chaser officially announced, an Android smartphone for $79.99 sans contract
The Virgin Mobile Chaser has now been officially introduced by the prepaid carrier. That said, its manufacturer is still a mystery. Regardless, the Chaser looks like it’s a pretty interesting entry level smartphone, running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The Chaser has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, an 800 MHz processor, microSD card support, a 1,450 mAh battery, and a 3 MP rear camera. It’s supposed to be already available online at Virgin Mobile, though it’s shown as out of stock for us right now. The handset will make its way to stores in September and October, so if you want one before that you’ll have to keep hitting Refresh on that page and hope it comes back in stock.
Why would you want one of these? Maybe because it’s being sold for just $79.99. And this being Virgin Mobile we’re talking about, that’s obviously sans long-term commitment. You can pair the Chaser with the carrier’s $35 per month unlimited plan, and you’ve got a cheap smartphone fulfilling all your communication needs.
