New iPhone and iPad Mini to be unveiled on September 12?
Get ready for a new batch of Apple-related rumors. iMore is reporting that the next iPhone (let’s call it iPhone 5, although Apple may go with something else in the end) will be announced on September 12. Alongside it will sit the incredibly often rumored iPad Mini. This comes from sources that have been reliable in the past, we’re told.
A new iPod touch could join in too, but that’s not certain for now. The iPhone 5 will be in stores 9 days after the unveiling, on September 21. This date has been rumored before, most notably last week. So it may just be it.
The iPhone 5 will probably come with a 4-inch 16:9 touchscreen. The iPad Mini will apparently be “exactly like the 9.7-inch iPad”, but scaled down to 7.something inches (probably 7.85). Although resolution isn’t talked about in this purported leak, we still assume it will be 1024×768. Putting a Retina Display into the iPad Mini would mean a lot of added cost (and even a bigger required battery), and Apple will want the smaller tablet to be cheaper than its bigger sibling. Also, it’s entirely reasonable that the Californian company would like the new iPad to still be its flagship tablet offering after September – a status which may be affected by a Retina Display inside the smaller tablet. We’ll have to wait and see though.
Anyway, the iPad Mini may get released on the same day as the iPhone 5 – September 21. But that’s not been ‘confirmed’ by today’s rumor-mongerers.
