Samsung’s next Nexus gets its specs leaked, is codenamed Superior
The Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III Mini aren’t the only leaked Samsung smartphones of the day. They’ve been joined by the GT-I9260 Superior. By the way, that’s its rumored codename. We don’t yet know what its final name will be, but it will contain the word Nexus in it.
That’s right, this could be Samsung’s next Nexus smartphone. Or maybe it’s just a slightly upgraded Galaxy Nexus, as the model number seems to indicate (the Galaxy Nexus is the GT-I9250). Or maybe it’s not real at all – that’s one possibility, let’s not forget.
SamMobile got word that the Superior will come with a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, an 8 MP rear camera, a 1.9 MP front-facing camera, and a microSD slot. Other than that, it looks like it will be identical to the Galaxy Nexus. Hence, it being the next Nexus seems a bit unlikely, since those features represent just minor improvements upon its predecessor’s.
On the other hand, a better camera and a microSD slot are probably the two things topping every Galaxy Nexus owner’s wishlist right now, so who knows… Anyway, having just a dual-core processor isn’t something really worthy of a true high-end flagship device in this day and age, so we think we aren’t being told the whole story here (assuming this is at all real, of course).
There have been some rumors in the past suggesting that Google will launch 5 Nexus devices this fall. If that’s the case, this could be one of them. An upper-midrange Nexus that could be sold alongside higher-end offerings (perhaps from other manufacturers). All of that remains to be seen.
