Amazon Appstore makes it to the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain
Amazon has finally taken its Android Appstore outside of North America. Just one and a half years after it launched in the US. No surprise there, really – just check out how many places the Kindle Fire is available in, right now. See? Or try to purchase ten books on Amazon if you’re outside the US. At least half will come with a message saying you’re simply in the wrong place to do that.
So nobody dare say Amazon isn’t US-centric. Still, it’s now made the Appstore available in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. Those are the biggest markets in Europe, so it makes sense to launch over there first. At this rate, expect the Appstore to expand into other EU countries by early 2014.
Those of you who hate Google, but dig Android (really?) will absolutely love this. If you’re in one of the supported countries, you can install the Amazon Appstore by going to this link with your Android device’s browser.
