Samsung shipped 20 million Galaxy S IIIs in 100 days
At the end of July, Samsung proudly announced that it sold more than 10 million Galaxy S III smartphones around the world. Now, two months later, the company unveiled that the number of units shipped has reached 20 million – in 100 days since the handset’s launch (back in May). This reconfirms the fact that the S III is Samsung’s most successful smartphone to date.
Sales will certainly continue to be strong in the coming months, especially since the S III got four new color versions recently. Of course, Apple’s new iPhonne 5 (expected to be announced next week, on September 12) will likely negatively impact Samsung’s business, but not with much. I’d say 30 million S IIIs sold by the end of 2012 is an achievable goal.
In case you don’t know yet, the Galaxy S III is still running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is reportedly “almost ready”, and should be rolled-out soon.
