Asus Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700T) and Acer Iconia Tab A700 get updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Good news comes today if you happen to own an Asus Transformer Pad Infinity or an Acer Iconia Tab A700. Both these tablets are now in the process of getting updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which at this time is the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.
The update for the Transformer Pad Infinity should have arrived last week, alongside that for the Transformer Pad Prime (TF201), which has been out for a few days. But some last-minute glitches prevented Asus from releasing the JB goodies for the Infinity back then. Fret not, though, for the update is rolling out as you read this (in the US, at least).
If your tablet hasn’t yet notified you about the update, you can make it manually check by going to Settings > About tablet > System Firmware Update > Check now.
The update for the Acer Iconia Tab A700 appeared in Germany first, but it should be making its way across the world any moment now. So, again, in case your device hasn’t notified you yet, you can manually check for the update to make sure you get it as soon as possible.
You may encounter some weird issues after you apply the update, see this thread over at XDA Developers for details and ways to fix things.
In both cases, the Jelly Bean update should bring bug fixes, as well as an overall improvement in UI speed thanks to Project Butter.
