Samsung Galaxy S III Mini could be introduced on October 11

The Samsung Galaxy S III Mini that was rumored to exist all the way back in August may finally be announced in a few days.

Samsung’s German arm has started sending out invites for an event it’s holding on October 11 (next Thursday). The words that accompany the invitation mean something along the lines of “something small will be really big”, and “get ready for a little sensation”.

In the center of the image above, we can make out the S that Samsung has always used for its Galaxy S branded devices, so it’s going to be a Galaxy S that will get unveiled next week.

Hence, MobiFlip speculates that the Galaxy S III Mini is the only device that this can logically be, given all the ‘small is big’ references.

The Galaxy S III Mini will probably emulate its bigger brother’s shape in a much more compact package, and should launch running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Previously leaked details had it coming with a 4-inch 480×800 touchscreen, a dual-core processor, and a 5 MP rear camera.

Bit of a bummer on the low display resolution and lower end camera – instead of a smaller S3 it looks like it’ll be more of a low end Galaxy…in that case…not nearly as interesting.

While a smaller GS3 may be part of the release, I’m betting we’re going to see the mention of a Galaxy Note 8.9 coming soon.

Samsung is trying to pull a fast one. No one expects them to introduce Flexible screens with Willow Glass. Strange because pics were already leaked of YOUM Flexible Unbreakable screens coming off line in August. Where resolution and size were said to be 4″ 752 x 1280 resolution. What does that mean? If they’re making ’em they’re going into something.

Exynos 5 Dual 5250 was also released and it’s destined for PHONES, not Tablet PC’s. So… if you wanted and planned to beat Apple iPhone 5, you would probably have this in a phone that matched up well with iPhone 5. Not with iPhone 3GS with last gen 480 x 800 that back to the dark ages of screen technology!

So the difference is yeah there were rumors about the diodes in YOUM being harder to produce. But none of those were from Samsung themselves. Even if they were, think about this; if you wanted to really make a dramatic entrance in a surprise attack, would it not be better to use some Sun Tsu (art of war) tactics? Say present it like it was nothing big and then unleash the FORCE of the REVOLUTION in SMARTPHONES!!!

Why do we think there were rumors of Galaxy 4 coming in February? Because those Exynos 5 Dual 5250 chips have been being produced since early August in mass quantities! ;-P

Just calculated it out. If Samsung’s new Galaxy Mini had a screen size of 4.2 inches and was true edge to edge (which YOUM screens are designed to be), then it would have about a 350ppi with a resolution of 752 x 1280 resolution (16:9 w/ fine metal mask actually changes everything. Meaning it could still be 4″ even) matching screens rolling off line in July!

I had a hard time getting a resolution that worked back then. Now it appears with this odd first ever resolution having been released by Samsung, it fills that blank in. Now will it really be a Galaxy SIII mini with Exynos 5 Dual 1.7ghz now in full production and it being for phones? I don’t think so. Not small enough for that way too much power to go for cheaper. Could it feasibly be in a phone without a bezel? Absolutely! …..and in that case it could even be a smaller footprint than iPhone 5 even with a 2GB of LPDDR3 fastest memory mated to it’s Exynos 5 Dual they started production on last month!!!

Anyone want to bet that Samsung is going to deliver an iPhone 5 KILLER? ;-P
