HTC’s 5 inch, 1080p phablet announced in Japan as J Butterfly: Android Jelly Bean, quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, LTE
HTC has finally announced its first 5 inch smartphone, albeit only in Japan for now. The devices is called HTC J Butterfly in country of the rising sun, and comes with everything we’ve heard it would come.
The 5 inch screen of the HTC J Butterfly is a Super LCD 3 one with 1920 x 1080 pixels, providing a 440ppi density – the highest ever found in a smartphone. Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the new handset features a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S 4 Pro CPU, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, a 2,020 mAh battery, and a 9,1mm thin case.
The HTC J Butterfly will be available in Japan starting December, via KKDI, in three color versions: black, red, and white.
According to The Verge, HTC will launch a similar device outside Japan. We’ve heard this could be called One X 5, or Google Nexus 5. More details as we get them. Until then, the Japanese J Butterfly can be seen here.
