Huawei Ascend G330 lands in the UK in December, will be free with £10/month contracts
The Huawei Ascend G330 is set to become available in the UK next month. So far, only TalkTalk has announced that it will offer this affordable Android device, but that doesn’t mean that more operators can’t join the party later.
The Ascend G330 was announced during IFA at the end of August, and before that it got leaked once in China. The Ascend G330 is probably not the successor to the Ascend G300 that Vodafone’s been pushing in the UK. Rather, the two may coexist for a while.
As its model number implies, the Huawei Ascend G330 is a bit higher-end than the G300. The differences aren’t many, though. The main update in terms of specs is the processor. The G330 is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 unit, the MSM8225. This is part of the S4 ‘Play’ series (read: lower end than the Plus and the Pro), and it comes with an Adreno 203 graphics chip.
Still, for a low-end smartphone such as the new Huawei Ascend G330, it’s probably more than enough. The G330 adds a front-facing camera compared to its sibling, and it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the gate. It also looks different. But everything else is identical.
The Ascend G330 also comes with a 4-inch 480×800 touchscreen, a 5 MP rear camera, 4 GB of built-in storage space, microSD expansion, 512 MB of RAM, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, 5.76 Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 1,500 mAh battery.
The smartphone will be available for free at TalkTalk, with contracts starting at £10 per month.
