Verizon HTC 8X now free with contract

Verizon’s been selling the Windows Phone 8X by HTC for a couple of weeks now, and it’s asking for $199.99 from you in case you want one.

But if you do, want one that is, yet aren’t willing to pay that much, you now have a much cheaper option. Free, in fact, if you’re not already a Verizon customer. For new activations, the HTC 8X can be had for a grand total of zilch over at Best Buy. You can order online or arrange to pick one up in a Best Buy store, whichever option suits you best.

If you are a Verizon customer wishing to upgrade, you will need to pay $99.99 for the device, but keep in mind that that’s still a full $100 off compared to what Big Red will charge you.

Regardless of your status with the carrier, you will of course be compelled to sign a two-year contract in order to benefit from this offer.

The HTC 8X is one of the most interesting Windows Phone 8 devices out there, and it’s HTC’s flagship WP8 smartphone. As such, it’s a great buy at the great price of free, and even at $99.99 it’s well worth considering if you want to dive into Microsoft’s newest mobile operating system.
