LG sold 10 million Optimus L-Series Android phones (L9, L7, L5, L3)
By Florin on 09 Dec 12LG unveiled its first L-Series smartphones in early 2012 at MWC: Optimus L7, Optimus L5, and Optimus L3. After these three models became available, the company introduced the fourth L-Series handset – Optimus L9 (initially released only by T-Mobile USA).
Now LG announced that global sales of all L-Series devices have passed 10 million units. Of course, this isn’t great when we look at Samsung’s Galaxy S III (sold in more than 30 million units), and LG itself admits it’s a “modest milestone.” Still, with the company not doing too well lately, it’s good for it to reach such milestones anyway.
Needless to say, the L9, L7, L5 and L3 are all running Android. And although they have design elements in common, they’re targeted at different customers, offering different features, from a 3.2 inch QVGA display (Optimus L3) to a 4.7 inch IPS qHD screen (Optimus L9). Of note is that the Optimus L5 and Optimus L3 have dual SIM versions each – this probably making them popular in emerging markets.
According to LG, the L9 (pictured above), L7, L5 and L3 are currently available in more than 50 countries around the world.
As previously reported, LG hopes to sell a total of 35 million smartphones throughout 2012. We’ll let you know if it succeeds.
