ZTE Avid 4G lands at MetroPCS, yours for $149.99 sans contract

MetroPCS has launched the ZTE Avid 4G today. It’s already available to be purchased from the carrier’s website, and supposedly in stores as well. It can be yours for just $149.99 (+tax), without any long term contract requirement whatsoever.

The Avid got leaked once a month ago, and it’s a midrange smartphone with a great price tag (considering the fact that you won’t have to sign your life away for two years to get it).

The handset comes with a 4-inch 480×800 touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a 5 MP camera with LED flash and video recording support, 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, and a 1,730 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich unfortunately. Not the most ancient version of Android around, but not the latest either. And given its price tag, manufacturer, and carrier – don’t expect any updates along the way.

The ZTE Avid 4G supports Joyn, the global carriers’ response to messaging services such as Whatsapp and Kik.
